Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Massachusetts Inclusive Higher Education (MAIHE) provides support to students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities through MAIHE appropriation funding. The MAIHE Fund is a state appropriation-funded program which serves students with intellectual disabilities in credit and non-credit courses that include non-disabled students. In addition, MAIHE facilitates social learning opportunities which are fully inclusive as well as inclusive career development activities in a higher education setting. The Academic Advisor and Data Specialist plays a crucial role in course selection, interactions with registration and student accounts, collecting and inputting data related to student participation, program effectiveness and student success outcomes for MAIHE students. The Academic Advising and Data Specialist reports to the MAIHE Coordinator to track, compile, and report on student participation and student success metrics.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Advising and enrolling students in courses appropriate to their Person-Centered Planning goals.
  2. Interacting with college Registration and Student Accounts staff.
  3. Maintain student data from college information management systems, along with Department of Higher Education's Think College Data system.
  4. Identify key student engagement metrics and develop data collection methods to track and assess these metrics.
  5. Assist the MAIHE Coordinator in monitoring student data over time to identify patterns, trends, and correlations that impact student success and retention and to identify areas of improvement or intervention.
  6. Stay informed about emerging trends in Inclusive Post-Secondary Education. Assist the Coordinator with information needed to prepare and present reports and presentations on data findings to various stakeholders.
  7. Participate in quarterly Partners Leadership Team (PLT) meetings along with MAIPSE semi-annual and annual conferences.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as academic advising, disability services, or related discipline.
  2. Strong proficiency in data management.
  3. Familiarity with database management systems, such as MS Excel.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with datasets.
  5. Knowledge of privacy and security regulations related to student data.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  7. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Commitment to supporting minoritized students and advancing racial justice.
  2. Experience working with student information systems, such as Jenzabar.
  3. Experience working with EAB Navigate or similar student success platforms.
  4. Understanding of higher education data and student success initiatives.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION: Hourly rate of $35.31 - $41.25, dependent upon experience, for up to 5 hours per week. Hybrid work schedule with some in-person work required. Part-time, non-benefited, grant funded, MCCC Unit position.
