Position Description
Essential Functions
Advise Students on Academic Excellence Skills (40%)
- Provide students with individual and small group academic counseling on topics such as critical reading, legal synthesis, legal argument, class preparation, and exam preparation and performance.
- Develop, refine, and deliver programs that assist students who experience academic difficulty.
- Review student academic work and provide analysis and feedback of the work to help students improve their responses to essay and multiple-choice questions.
- Provide information and advice to students regarding course selection, including helping students select the courses that will best prepare them for the bar exam.
- Address students' general questions about Academic Excellence and Bar Success programs, the attorney licensure process, and the bar application.
Develop and Teach Academic Excellence and Bar Success for-Credit Courses (30%)
- Course package includes Foundations of Law Study for first-year students and Enhanced Analytical Skills for second-year students.
Provide Programming and Support to Access Admission Students (20%)
- Review admission applications and recommend students for program.
- Develop and deliver an academic excellence program to students during their first summer of law school.
- Maintain academic support for the students throughout their law school careers.
Develop and Deliver Academic Sessions Associated with New Student Orientation (5%)
Assist the Bar Success Team to Support Individuals Preparing for the Bar Exam (5%)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited institution.
- Member in good standing with a state bar association.
- The ability to build rapport with students in individual counseling situations and maintain student and student record confidentiality.
- A high level of self-motivation, organization, flexibility, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, legal writing skills, and the ability to use these skills in individual and group settings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of teaching experience.
- At least three years of experience working in the academic support and/or bar preparation field.
- Ability to conduct statistical analysis and review.
- Experience with SU Law's bar preparation program.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $78,000 - $86,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university's discretion.
