Primary Purpose of the Position:

The Academic Advising and Student Success Team Lead serves as the lead advisor and academic success coach for their assigned tier of Professional Academic Advisors and Student Success Coaches, supervising direct reports. They lead their team in proactive advising and academic coaching. This position is also responsible for analytics, reporting, and proactive intervention for at-risk students within the assigned caseloads of their tier. This role models a student-centered advising approach that promotes learning, growth, and timely degree completion.

The Academic Advising and Student Success Team Lead provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for proactive advising, success coaching, and intervention strategies designed to promote student persistence, academic progress, and timely degree completion. Grounded in NACADA Core Competencies and WSSU's Student Success framework, the Team Lead uses data-informed practices, early alert systems, and predictive analytics to guide interventions, support advising staff, and ensure accountability for student outcomes.

Team Lead responsibilities scale by tier, progressing from direct intervention execution (Tier I) to intervention oversight and outcomes management (Tier II), to strategic, cross-functional intervention leadership (Tier III).
