Salary Range: Starting at $45,000 /Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Academic Advisor participates in the planning and delivery of academic advising and counseling services and programs that promote comprehensive educational opportunities for all students. This role cooperates with faculty members in providing for academic advising needs of individuals or groups of students. Responsible for understanding and interpreting the requirements and academic options in specific assigned areas and for knowing basic information about other academic areas to facilitate the student's pursuit of fields of interest.
Core Responsibilities
- Provides timely information and advice to students (individually and in groups) regarding the development of educational course/degree plan options, the resources available, and university policies.
- Organizes and assists in departmental projects, providing audits for graduating seniors, and submitting substitutions to the Dean for approval.
- May be required to train students or staff involved in academic advising.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- At the department's discretion, substitution for education and/or experience will be applied on a one-for-one basis.
- One (1) year of experience working with students in a higher education environment.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience working with students in a higher education environment.
- Experience working with student caseloads.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
Working Conditions
- Office environment.
- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.
- Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
