Position Summary

The UCLA Samueli School of Engineering (SEAS) is seeking a resourceful, organized, and service-oriented individual to serve as our Academic HR Analyst I. This position provides support to the School's academic personnel processes for our seven academic departments and associated Institutes. Under the direction of the Samueli Engineering Academic HR Manager I, the Academic HR Analyst I is responsible for providing data entry for ladder faculty academic personnel cases and annual updates in the Samueli School of Engineering. Incumbent uses appropriate systems to process personnel data entry and completing tasks for the various UCLA systems, including but not limited to: OPUS, Interfolio, Faculty 180, L&S Dossier.

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • 2 years Professional experience in academic personnel, human resources, administration, preferably within a higher education or public sector environment. (Preferred)
  • 1. Working knowledge of the UCLA CALL and communicating policy to administrators, faculty and staff. (Preferred)
  • 2. Working knowledge of OPUS/Interfolio and Life Sciences Dossier. (Preferred)
  • 3. Working knowledge of University Academic Personnel policies, procedures and systems including appointment, merit increase, hiring, selection. (Preferred)
  • 4. Skill in being sensitive to campus and school protocol in order to take appropriate action in implementing decisions and in consulting with other administrators. (Required)
  • 5. Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information to individuals at various organizational levels. (Required)
  • 6. Excellent organizational skills to establish and maintain efficient office systems with paper/electronic filing/record keeping systems. (Preferred)
  • 7. Skill in planning, organizing, and controlling annual and short-term projects. (Preferred)
  • 8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion in responding to inquiries and dealing with sensitive information with tact and diplomacy. (Required)
  • 9. Good written, verbal, and editing skills. (Required)
  • 10. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, and other campus units in situations including those that are hostile and sensitive. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

- Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Preferred)
