Academic Recruitment Specialist: Liberal Arts

Buena Vista University is seeking an Academic Recruitment Specialist for the School of Liberal Arts. This position reports to the Director of Admissions and is responsible for successfully recruiting talented high school and transfer students, which includes planning and leading activities designed to recruit students to the academic programs offered by the School of Liberal Arts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Recruit an acceptable number of new students each year in accordance with the mission and goals of the university.
- Be responsible for leading the relationship building between prospective students/family and BVU as directed by the Director.
- Regularly contact assigned students via phone, text, email, postal mail, and social media.
- Be the primary lead for campus visitors with intended majors within the school to showcase the school, faculty, and academic programs.
- Travel to high school, academic, and college-bound events focusing on majors within the school. Provide travel support as needed for general university recruitment.
- Work with the School Dean to coordinate with faculty members on student outreach, campus visits, and school-related programming focused on increasing new student enrollment.
- Create and consistently improve the campus visit experience for prospective students within the school and academic-focused admissions sessions.
- Lead the recruitment efforts of all co-curricular programs and special school initiatives within your school.
- Become highly knowledgeable about the strengths and unique qualities of the academic and co-curricular programs offered within the schools and effectively communicate the same to prospective students.
- With the support of the Director of Undergraduate Admission, provide regular updates on strategies and progress toward goals to the Dean.
- Attend appropriate School meetings and admissions staff meetings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse staff and a broad range of prospective families.
- Ability to perform and prioritize tasks with limited supervision.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferred within the academic School
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
