About the Role

We’re seeking a dynamic Academic Support Services Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting our Department Chairs and academic staff. Working under the direction of the Manager, Academic and Research Services, you’ll provide high-level executive and operational support while ensuring compliance with University and School processes.
This is a role for someone who takes pride in precision, discretion and delivering outstanding service.
You will provide executive and secretariat support to Academic Department Chairs, helping coordinate priorities, manage communications and ensure governance requirements are met. You’ll also support academic staff with compliance processes and play a key role in streamlining and improving systems to enhance efficiency across the School.
A significant component of the role involves managing the administrative lifecycle of sessional staff engagement — ensuring accurate, timely and compliant processing.
About You
You are an experienced administrative professional who can confidently operate at a senior level. You bring:
- Extensive experience providing confidential, high-level administrative support to senior management
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing and conflicting deadlines
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the capability to review and improve systems for continuous efficiency
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in electronic diary management and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems
- Experience working with financial processes (highly regarded)
Qualifications
Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of an associate diploma and subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
