Academy Scholar, The Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies
The Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies is dedicated to promoting innovative social science alongside knowledge of the world's regions and countries. The Academy Scholars Program identifies and supports outstanding researchers at the start of their careers whose work combines excellence in social science with expertise in countries or regions outside the United States or Canada.
Academy Scholars are appointed for a two-year, in-residence postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. They receive an annual stipend of $80,000 and research support of $5,000. Scholars engage in interdisciplinary approaches, mentored by Harvard faculty.
Eligibility: Open to recipients of PhD or equivalent degrees awarded within two years of the start date (August 1, 2026) or advanced doctoral candidates. The application must include a CV, research proposal, writing sample, PhD transcript, and three letters of recommendation.
