Overview
Under the general direction of the Insurance Follow-Up Supervisor of Accounts Receivable, assist in the daily operations of the accounts receivable area as a Lead Worker, ensuring claims are reconciled/processed daily, oversee the claim edits work queues and triage/resolve escalated accounts.
Required Skills and Abilities

- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, with outstanding organizational and analytical skills, ability to multi- task and handle complex portfolio of work in deadline driven environment.
- Superior customer skills with ability to interact with all levels of faculty and staff. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Strong writing skills and ability to compose communications, review outgoing work for accuracy and completeness.
- Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite. Desire to learn new systems and data base functions.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to oversee the work of others
Experience in a union environment, experience in a healthcare environment
Bachelor's degree preferred
Principal Responsibilities
- Coordinates, oversees and plans work assignments, projects and priorities and distributing and monitoring the work for team members on a daily basis and throughout the day as required. Directs efforts and act as expert resource for the team in a specific area or department. Measures volume of work and projected needs to ensure timely completion of work.
- Prepares, maintains and trains staff regarding all policies and procedures with the department.
- Ensures deadlines are being met and escalates issues as necessary to supervisor/manager. Makes recommendations to Supervisor to improve overall performance and productivity of department, including the organizational design and structure of staff and processes to ensure efficiency and proper utilization of staff and resources.
- Assists in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures. Escalates issues with staff to supervisor/manager.
- Designs and maintains tracking tools, where necessary, for monitoring workflow and productivity within department. Analyzes, documents, and makes recommendations on areas that need review with supervisor.
- Researches and resolves all outstanding issues and inquiries as necessary. Interacts with internal/external contacts as necessary to research and resolve issues/problem, including but not limited to resources within department as well as clinical departments.
- Evaluates employee’s performance on a regular basis and administers additional training and coaching when necessary. Discusses and escalates ongoing issues to supervisor/manager.
- May coordinate and make recommendations on overtime requirements and staffing levels, paid time off requests, unforeseen staff coverage issues, temporary schedule changes, etc.
- Assists in the implementation of innovative system enhancements and to coordinate training efforts within team and department. May be responsible for monitoring and scheduling current system updates and maintenance.
- Ensures adherence to HIPAA policies and procedures. Reports issues as required.
- Assists supervisor/manager on projects or other duties as needed.
Required Education and Experience
Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's Degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's Degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Demonstrated ability to oversee the work of others, preferably in customer service.
