Accountant 2
Job Summary
The Accountant 2 position is responsible for monitoring assigned sponsored accounts, educating department administrators/principal investigators concerning compliance issues, and assisting them in managing the sponsored funds in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
- REPORTS: Prepare financial reports for various sponsored programs.
- EDUCATE: Help educate administrators and faculty about compliance with federal and state regulations for various sponsored programs.
- TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Work collaboratively with various offices to ensure the terms and conditions of each sponsored program are met.
- INVOICING: Invoice sponsoring agencies and track accounts receivable.
- ACCOUNT MONITORING: Monitor sponsored programs to determine that expenditures are in compliance with agency requirements and terms of the award.
- BUDGETS: Establish and maintain budgets for sponsored programs.
- TRANSFERS: Review and authorize transfers (expenditure and budget) for sponsored accounts.
- OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the area of Accounting, Finance or related field with a demonstrated emphasis in accounting coursework and a minimum of two years of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Excel, a strong communicator, and problem-solver.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Knowledge of accounting, Excel, including formulas and pivot tables, to achieve management and understanding of large amounts of financial data.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to follow written processes, use multiple databases, including financial systems, to reconcile accounts, and to recommend solutions to discrepancies, as well as continue to monitor accounts and systems on an ongoing basis.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B8
Salary: $45,400/annually-$49,000/annually
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
