Job Duties:
Fitzhugh Scott Fellows are required to conduct design research and to participate in the SARUP community through the teaching of studios and seminars. Each two-year fellowship includes teaching responsibilities that focus on the core studio curriculum at the undergraduate or graduate levels, and equally important, an elective studio and seminar driven by the fellow's research agenda. At the culmination of the fellowship, fellows are expected to complete a final project that can be disseminated at a national level. Fitzhugh Scott Fellowship recipients will be expected to deliver a lecture about their fellowship research in the SARUP Lecture Series, disseminate research through peer-reviewed journals, conferences and other written media, and exhibit related work in SARUP's gallery.

The Department of Architecture is part of the School of Architecture & Urban Planning (SARUP) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Department of Architecture offers a unique range of externally funded studios, building long-term relationships with regional industrial and institutional partners. Our track record in establishing these relationships provides ample opportunity for our students to engage professionals in numerous fields outside of architecture. Additionally, SARUP is now home to two significant international design awards, the Marcus Prize and the Urban Edge Award. Both highlight SARUP's commitment to Milwaukee by bringing international talent into the studios. The Department offers BARCH, BSAS, M. Arch., MS, MUD and Ph.D. degree programs and faculty are encouraged to teach at all levels. The department is open to all areas of expertise and design research including but not limited to contemporary theory, climate change and ecology, media and computational design methodologies, beginning design, housing, and public space studies.
Located on the shore of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee and its suburbs offer a variety of housing options, diverse, walkable and livable neighborhoods, access to good schools, an established arts and cultural scene, and research opportunities around the Great Lakes ecology, urban community cultures, and post-industrial heritage. The urban context of the school allows faculty research to build on the specific and unique conditions of Milwaukee.
Required Qualifications:
- Masters in Architecture or related field or Doctorate of Design.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exemplary design and/or research potential, as may be demonstrated by built work, design exhibitions, and/or published articles in academic journals.
- Demonstrated evidence of potential to teach design studio and related courses.
- A clearly articulated project as it relates to the call to be conducted during the fellowship period.
Compensation:
Starting salary will be $60,000 (Final salary offer contingent upon skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to the position).
