Adjunct Faculty - Communication Studies
Class Description
CCBC is the college of choice for over 50,000 students and 200 businesses each year. It offers a holistic learning environment with degree, certificate, and workplace certification programs at various locations.
CMNS101: Fundamentals of Human Communication introduces the study of human communication, covering theoretical principles of verbal and nonverbal interaction in contexts like intrapersonal, interpersonal, cross-cultural, small group, and public speaking.
Adjunct faculty are needed to teach morning and afternoon classes at external locations such as local-area high schools or other higher-ed institutions, primarily Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. Instructors may need to be available five days per week.
Responsibilities include facilitating learning through preparation and delivery of instruction, submitting materials and grades on time, coordinating with the Program Director, attending meetings, being available to students outside of class, maintaining program accreditation, and participating in professional development. CCBC-specific trainings may be required.
Pay level: $1050 per credit hour.
Minimum Requirements
- Masters degree or higher in Human Communication, Communication Studies, or related field;
- Higher Education and/or preK-12 teaching experience;
- Competence and experience in relevant academic field;
- Proficient computer skills and Microsoft suite knowledge;
- Prior experience using a Learning Management System (LMS);
- Prior college teaching experience preferred.

- Employs various teaching strategies for diverse students;
- Adheres to the scheduled class time;
- Develops a course syllabus in line with program and College policies;
- Ensures program-specific evaluation methods are administered consistently and equitably;
- Assures evaluation methods appropriately assess course objectives;
- Monitors student performance and provides timely feedback.
