Purpose of Position: Adjunct Faculty Members, Department of Leadership and American Studies. Have you considered the exciting intellectual challenges of teaching high-ability students at Christopher Newport University? The CNU College of Social Sciences is accepting applications from prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual courses, as needed, in the following areas: Leadership Studies - Self-discovery and group dynamics - Leadership theory and perspectives - Values and ethics in leadership - Leading adaptive change - Leadership analysis of historical figures and situations - Leadership in complex contexts (systems and cultures) - Special topics in area of expertise. Along with demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, candidates must hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of related graduate course work. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire. Candidates for hire are required to complete a CNU-sponsored background check.

Departmental Information: The Department of Leadership and American Studies at Christopher Newport University is composed of 16 faculty and offers a second major and a minor in Leadership Studies, and a major and minor in American Studies. The Leadership Studies minor won the Outstanding Leadership Program Award in 2019 from the Association of Leadership Educators. The second major in Leadership Studies began in the Fall 2020 semester.
