Adjunct Instructor, Health and Physical Education
Job Description
St. Cloud State University is seeking applications for potential adjunct instructors who qualify to teach in the College of Education and Learning Design – Health and Physical Education.
The Health and Physical Education program requests applications for part-time adjunct instructors for selected undergraduate and graduate courses in our health and physical education programs. The primary responsibilities include preparation and modeling effective EdTPA teaching practices including planning, instruction, and assessment. Additionally, instructors may be asked to gather and share data of educational lesson planning, dispositions, and assessment in designated coursework with the College of Education and Learning Design for PELSB accreditation. Responsibilities may also include compliance factors with the SCSU Office of Clinical Experiences for supervision of clinical experiences. Courses may include: Sex, aging, and relationships; Methods of K-12 in physical education; Inclusive techniques for diverse populations in HPE; Drugs and mental health; Methods of 5-12 Health; and Assessing motor performance for students with disabilities.
This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments’ access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).
Compensation is per credit, the current credit rate is a minimum of $1819 per credit.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Health or Physical Education or closely related field
- Minnesota Tier 3 or 4 Teaching license in 5-12 Health Education or K-12 Physical Education
- Minimum 1-year teaching experience in 5-12 Health Education or K-12 Physical Education
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience to teach Methods courses
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to student engagement, mentoring, and success
- Evidence of the ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualification
- Doctorate degree or ABD in Education
- Masters degree in 5-12 Health, PK-12 physical education, and developmental adapted physical education.
- Three or more years teaching experience in 5-12 health education or K-12 physical education
- Previous teaching experience at a post-secondary institution with evidence of teaching effectiveness
- Experience supervising undergraduates and graduate students
- Active engagement in the professional community discipline
- Use of technology in teaching, including online classes
