The College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies, CCPS, invites you to apply to serve as a Fall 2026 PD 1015: Next Bearcat Lives Here first-year seminar instructor and make a difference in the transition, success, and academic and professional growth of first-year Arts & Sciences Bearcats! Through serving as a PD 1015 Instructor, you will join an engaged and supportive professional teaching and learning community within the nationally recognized College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies (CCPS).
About PD 1015: Next Bearcat Lives Here
PD 1015 is a 3-credit first-year seminar course that integrates both first-year and career education general education requirements. Meeting two times a week for 1 hour 20 minutes each throughout fall and capped at 28 students, the course focuses on assisting primarily Arts & Sciences (A&S) students in their transition to UC, fostering a sense of belonging and classroom community, connecting students with a campus support network, notably their A&S academic advisor, and exploring academic and professional pathways. PD 1015 sections may be themed by A&S majors and learning communities. Instructors are provided common course requirements, curricular resources, and high-impact trainings to prepare for the teaching experience.
Essential Functions
- On a part-time basis, conduct and teach assigned section of PD 1015: Next Bearcat Lives Here. The course meets in person twice a week for an hour and twenty minutes each during the fall semester.
- Attend and actively participate in required PD 1015 instructor meetings.
- Participate in early intervention and student success initiatives, such as submitting academic alerts on My Bearcat Network and CARE referrals.
- Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of responsibilities.
- Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
- Submit assignment grades and final grades in a timely manner abiding by university deadlines.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in a field related to Education from an accredited institution
- The candidate’s background must reflect effectiveness in interpersonal relationships and the ability to work harmoniously with a variety of interest groups
- Candidates must have an ability to use Windows-based office software products
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Demonstrated organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Effectiveness in interpersonal relationships and the ability to work harmoniously with a variety of interest groups
- Prior experience advising, teaching, or supporting A&S-related majors
- For University of Cincinnati employees, approval by supervisor or department chair

- Wednesday, April 29th: 9:00am - 4:30pm, in person. The PD 1015 NEXT Institute: New Experiences in Teaching (New Instructor Training)
- Wednesday, May 6th: 9:30am - 4:00pm, in person. Next 'PD 1015 Instructor' Lives Here Annual Symposium (All Instructors)
- Four (4) Fall 2026 faculty meetings
- Tuesday, August 11th, 9:30am - 11:30am, in person, on campus
- Friday, September 4th, 10:00am - 11:00am, virtual
- Friday, October 2nd, 10:00am - 11:00am, virtual
- Friday, November 6th, 10:00am - 11:00am, virtual
Application Information
Invited applicants are offered a short interview with course director and/or College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies (CCPS) personnel. The stipend pay is $3,600 and paid over the fall semester (September - December).
