Ohio University's Regional Campuses are located in the following cities in the State of Ohio: Chillicothe; Eastern (St. Clairsville, OH), Lancaster, Southern (Ironton, OH), and Zanesville.
We are accepting applicants for potential adjunct faculty openings in Social Work for the academic year 2025-26. The need for these positions is undetermined at this time and is dependent on operational needs including enrollment and staffing. If a need arises, the department will select candidates from this posting.

Job Description
Ohio University Regional Campuses are seeking a part-time instructor to teach in person Social Work courses at the undergraduate level. The exact number of Instructors needed is undetermined at this time as it is primarily dependent upon enrollments and overall student demand. When a need arises, the department will select qualified candidates from this pool.
Preference will be given to applicants who can teach the following in-person sections:
- Eastern in the fall: SW 3701 (Dynamics of Human Behavior)
- Eastern in the spring: SW 3801 (Introduction to Social Work Practice Methods)
- Zanesville in the fall: SW4921 (Field Seminar I) and SW 4923 (Field Practicum I)
- Zanesville in the spring: SW 4924 (Field Practicum II)

SW 3701 Dynamics of Human Behavior: The course presents theoretical frameworks and empirical knowledge used in social work assessment, emphasizing factors affecting human development over the course of life including the range of social systems in which people live. Requires students to critique and apply knowledge from multiple sources, with particular attention to the foundations of social work practice including values and ethics, dimensions of human diversity, professional self-awareness, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and class.
SW 3801 Introduction to Social Work Practice Methods: Focuses on the development of effective social work communication and practice skills utilizing the different stages of the planned change model as they relate to the social work relationship and professional practice. Requires students apply social work ethics to practice especially regarding diverse populations. Additionally, students develop knowledge of social work theories, including Systems Theory, Ecological Systems Theory, and other developmental theories. Cultural sensitivity, cultural humility, and professional self-awareness are also course components.
SW 4921 Field Seminar I: First of a two-semester series, taken concurrently with SW 4801 and 4923. Provides an opportunity to integrate field experience with coursework and personal reflection. Process activities, questions, and concerns related to the field practicum through discussion and field journals. Develop analytical, written, and presentation skills through assignments focused on use of self within the context of a social service organization. A variety of practice issues are addressed in a regional context including diversity, social justice, social work values and ethics, self-understanding, and professional development.
SW 4923 Field Practicum I: First of a two-semester sequence, taken concurrently with SW 4960 & SW 4910. A first semester placement experience, during which students begin with observation and gradually progress toward independently assuming the social work roles of teacher, broker, counselor/clinician, and advocate in generalist practice.
SW 4923 Field Practicum II: Second of a two semester sequence, taken concurrently with SW 4970 & 4911. A second semester placement experience, during which students gradually progress toward independently assuming the social work roles of teacher, broker, counselor/clinician, and advocate in generalist practice.
Ideal candidate would possess excellent communication skills and a commitment to working as part of a collaborate team.Minimum Qualifications
A Master's of Social Work (MSW) degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is required.
Two years post-MSW practice experience required.
A current social work license or eligibility for licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Independent or Clinical Social Worker
Social work practice/teaching experience in rural areas
Evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level.
