Job Description
Centralia College is seeking an adjunct professor to teach in the Registered Nursing (RN) program. The program is designed to prepare students to provide nursing care in a variety of healthcare settings and to obtain licensure as an RN.
Duties and Responsibilities
Nursing faculty report to the Dean of Healthcare and Industrial Trades, but function under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing. Responsibilities include:
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating the purpose and outcomes of the nursing education program.
- Designing, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum.
- Developing and evaluating nursing education policies.
- Participating in academic advising and guidance of students.
- Evaluating student achievement.
- Selecting, guiding, and evaluating student learning activities.
- Participating in activities to improve nursing competency.
- Developing criteria for the selection and evaluation of clinical experiences.
Other responsibilities include maintaining a conducive learning environment, supporting academic policies, participating in department meetings, and potentially teaching outside normal hours.
Qualifications
Required:
- Possess an unencumbered Washington State RN license.
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Willing to attain a graduate degree within two years of hire.
- Minimum of two years related work experience as an RN.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in nursing education.
- Teaching experience in other healthcare classes.
- Trainer certification for BLS, EMT, or related field.
- Experience advising students.
- Participation in professional activities.
- Demonstrated ability to serve diverse student populations.
- Current clinical nursing practice.
- Specialty care experience in Oncology and Medical/Surgical.
- Experience in Acute Medical and/or Surgical Care, Community Health, or Mental Health.
- Graduate degree in process or completed.
- PHD or DNP in process or completed.

COMPENSATION: Current lecture/lab rates ($886.41 - $1,358.22 per credit).
