Job Description
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
The University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (McGeorge), invites applications for a part-time faculty position in the Public Policy Program. The Program offers both the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of Public Policy (MPP) degrees. Founded in 2016, it is the first program in the nation to offer these degrees within an ABA accredited law school. The Program's adjunct faculty offer a wealth of practical experience and special expertise to our students, drawing on decades of professional experience and past graduate education.
The Program seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach Leadership, Organization Behavior in the Spring 2026 semester. Course description: Analysis and development of knowledge and skills relevant to complex organizational behavior in public and nonprofit organizations, including motivation, diversity, communications, decision-making, power, conflict, culture, and change. Explicit attention to strategic leadership, including responsibilities for organization structures and their internal and external relationships, managing human capital, group development and performance, and political and symbolic roles.
The course is currently scheduled to meet in-person on the Sacramento campus on alternate Saturdays. The first class session is three and a half hours, and the subsequent classes consist of three-hour morning and afternoon sessions separated by a guest speaker and/or panel discussion with the students during the lunch break.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A graduate degree in public administration, public policy or related field.
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in public administration or public policy, including work experience with a public agency, consultancy or non-profit working in a public service area.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate teaching experience in public administration, public policy, or related area.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in education and public service settings.
- Communicates effectively.
- Maintains professional composure and demeanor at all times.
- Demonstrated expertise in leadership and organization behavior.
- Promotes the vision, mission, and core values of McGeorge School of Law.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
