Administration and Project Support Officer

About This Opportunity

The Project Support Officer plays a key role in delivering a broad range of administrative and logistical services to support the UQ Cyber Research Centre’s projects. This position is instrumental in enabling the success of UQ’s cyber research initiatives and activities. The role primarily involves desk-based tasks that ensure the smooth daily operations of the team, along with hands-on support for program-related events and project activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate and support meetings for grants and other initiatives, industry partners, and governance, including logistics, documentation, and minute-taking.
  • Provide secretariat and administrative support to Centre leadership and project teams, including calendar and travel management.
  • Manage documentation and reporting, including finance tracking, investment planning, and scholarship support.
  • Support event delivery and logistics, such as accommodation, catering, cyber lab maintenance and bookings, and preparation of materials.
  • Website and promotional materials updates of the Centre.
  • Maintain office supplies and merchandise, ensuring availability and stock control.
  • Liaise with industry partners and internal stakeholders (such as the Centre Director, Deputy Director, Centre Manager, Research Programmer), offering administrative assistance and facilitating collaboration.
  • Flexibility is important, as occasional after-hours work may be required to support key events or deadlines.

About You

This role primarily involves administrative support and is best suited to someone with a strong focus and interest in administration.

  • A degree or diploma level qualification with subsequent relevant experience in administration, project support, and office operations.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with cultural awareness and a friendly, approachable manner.
  • Effective written communication and time management skills, with a commitment to accuracy and excellence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and general office equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in team environments.
  • Reliable, punctual, and knowledgeable of the UQ campus and local area.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
