Administrative Support Specialist
The Administrative Support Specialist position provides administrative support to the Director of the School of Music, with primary responsibilities in personnel administration, faculty records management, and office operations. Operating at the journey level, the role requires in-depth knowledge of university policies and procedures, independent judgment, and the ability to interpret and apply guidelines in non-standard situations.
The Administrative Support Specialist manages confidential faculty files, supports HR transactions, and ensures the efficient functioning of the School’s administrative processes. It requires effective use of university systems for data entry and reconciliation, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with faculty, staff, and campus partners. Work is performed with minimal supervision and requires initiative, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic academic environment.
Minimum Qualifications
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY AND ONE YEAR OF RELATED OFFICE EXPERIENCE; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of Administrative Assistant experience in a university setting or professional equivalent.
- Experience working in student success and/or recruitment settings.
- Experience working and engaging with diverse populations.
- Experience working in a music or performing arts office.
