A Bachelors degree or an equivalent is required; One or more years experience in Admissions or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the Minimum Admission Requirements as outlined by the University of North Carolina System. Other preferred skills include an advance proficiency/knowledge of Admission Pros recruitment software. Excellent oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills are necessary.

Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position

Articulates admissions policies and procedures to students, parents and counselors. Participates in University undergraduate admission recruitment activities, including college day/night programs, individual visits to secondary schools, alumni meetings, and campus tour visitations.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The primary function of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions is to identify, attract, and enroll first year and transfer students with outstanding academic ability and potential.

Work Hours
8 am-5 pm Monday-Friday, including some weekends

The employee counsels applicants, prospective students and parents concerning programs of study and admission standards, policies and procedures concerning the Department and University. Takes action consistent with available facts, constraints and anticipated consequences. Analyzes relevant policies and applies them across a variety of situations. Duties

The employee serves as an integral part of an admissions team charged with the responsibility of identifying, recruiting and enrolling a highly qualified new student class each year. Articulates admissions policies and procedures to students, parents and counselors by participating in University undergraduate admission recruitment activities, including college day/night programs, individual visits to post-secondary institutions, alumni meetings, campus visitation programs, and other events as required. Participates in recruitment activities that will involve extensive travel, both in state and out of state. Conducts information sessions on campus for prospective students and parents. Attends meetings with University faculty and various University committees to represent the Admissions Office. Understands and identifies student services issues, client needs and matters of a recurring nature to effectively address and resolve the issue. Demonstrates substantial interpersonal skills (written and verbal), good judgement, flexibility, and team work. Conducts ongoing outreach; engages with prospective students via phone, email and in person; and provides superior customer service.

The employee utilizes standard office equipment (i.e., computer, scanner, copier, etc.; demonstrates excellent skills in Microsoft Office, as well as utilizing/implementing vendor installed and University-specific software-related systems (i.e., Banner and AdmissionPros etc.) Uses a variety of office equipment and information systems to access, input and verify standard information.
Uses established filing and data systems, functions and procedures.
