Job Summary
Work in-person with the Office of Admissions as the initial contact for all guests to Student Services. Provide assistance to new, prospective and returning students in the areas of admission, getting started at SLCC, MySLCC setup, residency requirements, how to register, records, and navigation of the College website questions. Connect students with additional resources, as needed. Provide reception duties as well as telephone assistance in the Office of Admissions. Communicate effectively through in-person and email correspondence. Work location is in-person at the Taylorville Redwood Campus- STC- 4600 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City UT. Hybrid or remote work is not available.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, (customer service, written and oral communication).
- Adaptable to frequent change, function well in high-stress environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
Minimum qualifications
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a busy and complex environment
One year post high school education Some college
One-year full-time office, reception, or customer service experience; experience working with confidential information; familiarity with SLCC a plus.
Experience in BANNER database preferred. Expert telephone etiquette.
Expert customer service skills.
Expert in basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
