Position Purpose
The Admissions Officer performs a wide range of entry-level admissions duties, including management of a designated recruitment territory, acting as the Dartmouth liaison to guidance counselors and prospective applicants from the assigned territory, traveling to high schools to attract qualified students, reviewing and assessing applications, and conducting group information sessions on campus and on the road in a one-year renewable appointment.
Appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year upon successful performance in the role.

- One year of relevant experience as a staff or student employee in a college admissions office or related academic setting and/or direct experience in the Dartmouth community as a recent graduate. Appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year upon successful performance in the role.
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent, preferably in a liberal arts discipline.
- Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills as well as confidence and clarity in public speaking.
- Facility with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and related database and word processing applications.
- Exceptional time management and organization skill and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Analytical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Strong sense of judgment and discretion at all times.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Dartmouth driver certification.
- Ability and willingness to engage in significant out of town travel as well as evening and weekend commitments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Spanish or Mandarin.
- Evidence of a collaborative style in a project-based setting.
- Optimism, high energy and a sense of humor are valuable assets.
- Experience as a staff and student employee in a college admissions office.

Admissions Functions - Plans, organizes and manages all admissions activities, including general and targeted recruitment travel, for a designated geographic region. Represents Dartmouth at school visits, college fairs and related recruitment events. Completes the preliminary evaluation of at least 1,200 undergraduate applications per year. Assists with the coordination of recruitment projects and outreach initiatives. Espouses the enduring value of a liberal arts education and securing a high-achieving and diverse student body.

Conducts on campus information sessions for visiting students and their families. Develops internet-based relationships with prospective students through email and other channels.
