About the Job

The Horn research group is seeking applications for a postdoctoral associate (100% time) under the direction of Professor Stacey Horn. The position is ideal for a diversity scientist interested in research on adolescent social and moral development. The Horn research group focuses on mixed-methods studies on attitudes related to SOGI and bias-based bullying in schools. The position is 30% teaching (FsoS 1201: Human Development) and 70% research. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with colleagues, engage in the recruitment and interviewing of participants, conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses, provide leadership for the research group by mentoring and supervising undergraduate and graduate students and effectively teach one section of FsoS 1201: Human Development (an online, asynchronous course) each semester.

Job Responsibilities:

Function 1 (30%)

  • Serve as Instructor of Record for one section of FSoS 1201: Human Development in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
  • Manage all aspects of the class including the developing and maintaining the syllabus and Canvas site, creating and updating course lectures and other course materials, and grading.
  • Supervision of TA’s if assigned to the course.

Function 2 (45%)

  • Data Analysis and manuscript preparation for ongoing projects

Function 3 (25%)

  • Project management for Dr. Horn’s research group and various research projects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to advocating an inclusive environment for all backgrounds and identities.
  • Ph.D. in Human Development, Family Science, Educational Psychology or related field.
  • Qualitative and quantitative research experience.
  • Knowledge of academic literature related to adolescent social and moral development, bias-based bullying, sexual orientation and gender identity, and safe schools policies and practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience teaching human development, educational psychology, or family science classes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated experience preparing manuscripts for publication
  • Demonstrated experience supervising others such as undergraduate RA’s
  • Experience teaching in an online modality

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $61,008 $62,232 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience
