Position Summary
The UNC Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) is seeking a full-time adult clinical neuropsychologist to join our existing Neuropsychology faculty. This position will provide neuropsychological assessment and consultation services to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with a variety of neurocognitive and neurobehavioral impairments. Clinical services are provided within UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and in our outpatient clinics.
Our neuropsychologists work closely with interdisciplinary treatment teams and other UNC departments/programs, including Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Sports Medicine, and more. Typical referral diagnoses include traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, autoimmune disease, neurodegenerative disorder, cancer-related cognitive concerns, long COVID-19, and other forms of acquired brain dysfunction. We also provide surgical evaluations for epilepsy, DBS, and organ transplant surgeries, and neuropsychological services to former professional football players. In-patients with acute or chronic neurocognitive impairment are evaluated to aid in patient care and discharge planning. We also provide training experiences for graduate students, psychology interns, and fellows as well as resident physicians.
The hired faculty member will be the primary neuropsychologist for our Brain and Body Health Program clinic (assessing retired NFL players) every Wednesday. Beyond that, they would be expected to conduct neuropsychological evaluations for a variety of patients as described above. Although the position is primarily clinical (~80%), they should also be involved in the supervision/training of students, some research and administrative activities associated with their areas of expertise/interest.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Qualified candidates will have their PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology/neuropsychology. Qualified candidates will have completed an APA-approved clinical internship with a neuropsychology emphasis. Applicants should be licensed or license-eligible in North Carolina and board certified or eligible for board certification in clinical neuropsychology.
