Advanced Practice Provider (APP) / (PA/NP), Department of Surgery, Division of GITES Burn Unit - Instructor
Job Summary
The Division of GI, Trauma, and Endocrine Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a part-time faculty position available at the rank of Instructor for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). Under the direction of the full-time faculty or designee, this position provides outpatient medical care services at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH).
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include obtaining a thorough history, performing an appropriate physical examination, ordering appropriate testing and managing post-operative complications. Assisting in the hydroroom with patient pain and sedation management and photo documentation of wounds daily. Monitoring overall care and providing education about the risks and benefits of the surgical procedures is also expected. Working with all residents and providing resident orientation. Seeing and evaluating patients in the hospital as well as the clinic, providing documentation, an assessment and care plan for inpatient stay and all discharge care planning. These duties will include inpatient responsibilities such as rounding, writing orders, photographing wound healing, discharge and outpatient duties to include patient assessment, patient education, care coordination and disease management. Participation in research activities of the clinic and the inpatient unit, including the identification of patients appropriate for open clinical trials and facilitating their participation in clinical research.
Close collaboration with general surgeons, sub-specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists and hospital staff will be necessary. Professional interaction with referring physicians and staff, emergency medical personnel and primary care providers is essential. The census and acuity of clinical activity varies service to service and NP/PAs may at times be asked to provide cross coverage clinical care on different services to deal with this issue. One key feature of this position is the need to work in collaboration with the surgical house staff.
Work Location: Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
NP Minimum Qualification:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Masters degree in Nursing.
- Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive privileges.
- Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a Masters degree.
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges.
- Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Medical Review Board
- Two year's experience in general surgery, trauma, or critical care setting preferred.

- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly as an integral member of a team.
Anticipated Pay Range
HIRING RANGE: $100,734 to $134,014
