Determine eligibility and provide individualized advising, advocacy, and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities in compliance with applicable federal regulations such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and University policies. Maintain a case load of students with disabilities and collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus stakeholders to facilitate an accessible and inclusive campus through the provision and coordination of reasonable accommodations, support services, and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate disability documentation to ensure it meets established criteria.
- Engage in an interactive process with students to determine students' eligibility for disability accommodations in accordance with federal regulations and University policies.
- Maintain case load of students registered with ODAS for the purpose of facilitating equal access to educational opportunities; monitor students' progress, provide mentoring as requested, and maintain accurate records in LU Accommodate.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to facilitate students' accommodations and advocate as needed.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, in all aspects of disability services provision.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students' disability status and accommodation needs in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
- Advocate for the implementation of accessible practices and technologies across campus, including in facilities, digital platforms, and instructional materials.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of ODAS initiatives and resources.
- Provide disability and accommodation information to university stakeholders upon request.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Advisor
- Maintain a caseload and ensure timely, accurate documentation of all interactions.
- Review and approve standard accommodation requests, including thorough review of documentation, coordination of accommodations, and ongoing guidance to ensure students have equal access to the learning experience.
- Maintain regular check-ins with students.
- Provide timely response to routine inquiries from key stakeholders.
- Educate students on the accommodation process and help them develop self-advocacy skills.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to clarify accommodation implementation as needed.
- Identify and refer students to appropriate campus resources as needed.
Lead Advisor
- Review and approve complex accommodation requests.
- Serve as point of contact for student concerns and complaints.
- Assist in onboarding and training new staff.
- Provide mentorship and ongoing training to ODAS Advisors under the leadership of the Director of Residential or LUO ODAS.
- Develop and/or lead ODAS initiatives and programs.
- Review, refine, and implement procedures, policies, and workflow improvements.
- Assist the Director of Residential or LUO ODAS in preparing reports, analyzing accommodation trends, assessing program outcomes, and supporting audit/compliance processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Advisor
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, Rehabilitation Studies, Education or a related human-services field.
- Required: 1-3 years of prior experience working with students in educational, counseling, or case management settings.
- Preferred: Coursework or training in disability studies, ADA/Section 504 compliance, or assistive technology.
- Preferred: 3-5 years of prior experience working with students in educational, counseling, or case-management settings.
- Preferred: Familiarity with learning differences, mental health conditions, or accessibility practices in higher education.
Lead Advisor
- Strongly preferred: Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Special Education, Disability Services Administration, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related field.
- Strongly preferred: 3-5 years of prior experience working with students in educational, counseling, or case management settings.
- Preferred: Significant experience (3-5 years or more) in disability services, higher education, or complex case management.
- Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and higher-education compliance standards.
- Preferred: Experience training staff, supervising teams, or leading program initiatives.
- Preferred: Experience working with complex cases or cross-departmental coordination.
To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver's license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment may include facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.
Driving Requirements
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position.
