Job Description

The Agricultural Business Management program at SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech is seeking an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Business Management with a proven commitment to excellence in the classroom. The successful candidate is expected to teach and develop courses in agricultural business, agricultural policy, agricultural economics, entrepreneurship, and food system sustainability. This is a 10-month, tenure-track teaching appointment.

Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening and/or Saturday classes as needed. Candidates should also be prepared to teach in a variety of modalities, including in-person, online, hybrid, and remote formats. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include academic advisement, committee participation, curricular activities, including career-focused microcredential curriculum development, and scholarly activities such as research, grantsmanship, scholarship, mentorship of undergraduate researchers, and professional development that supports excellence in teaching. Faculty are expected to participate in service activities including assessment and other quality improvement initiatives that benefit the college, our students, the community and the discipline. It is also expected that the successful candidate will establish professional relationships within the agriculture and food complex regionally and beyond.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or closely related field or ABD (all but dissertation) in Agricultural Economics or closely related field or earned MBA or Master's degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, or related field with strong professional background and interest in agricultural economics, agricultural policies, and entrepreneurship.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and cultivation of faculty/student relationships that facilitate student success and personal growth;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with undergraduate students, the agricultural community, and colleagues within and outside of the academic department - with a focus on the ability to work successfully as part of a team;
  • Strong professional background in the agricultural field and the larger food and fiber system.

Additional Information

  • The salary range is $55,000 - $60,000.
  • This is a term, tenure-track, academic year (10-month appointment).
  • To start Fall 2026.
