Job Description Summary: The Clinical or Health Psychologist in the Division of General and Ambulatory Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine serves as part of the Professional Well-Being Center's behavioral health team, delivering outpatient services to physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses across the health system. The role focuses on providing psychological assessment, counseling, and psychotherapy within a primary care and behavioral health integration model, while collaborating with internal medicine clinics, inpatient programs, and external mental health agencies to ensure continuity of care. An embedded health psychologist will lead to better overall outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Job Duties:
- Provide assessment, psychotherapy, counseling and support for patients with chronic medical conditions in a patient centered medical home setting.
- Maintain a productive clinical practice at the Medical Center with Comprehensive Primary Care Services and Behavioral Health Primary Care Integration model.
- Work within the General Medicine Clinic, Adult Outpatients and Inpatient programs and with external mental health agencies to facilitate continuity of patient care and mental health assessment and follow-up.
- Develop and/or continue academic pursuits consistent with the academic mission.
- Participate in and contribute performance improvement processes.
- Participate in departmental committees and activities, faculty meetings, and in hospital and medical school committees.
- Accommodate anticipated clinical growth and comprehensive primary care model.
- Support the integration of behavioral health in primary care setting.
- Collaborate with primary care providers to address mental health issues that impact chronic medical conditions.

Work Environment: This position follows a Monday-Friday schedule with no call or inpatient duties.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Doctorate degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or Clinical Psychology from an APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral program (with an APA approved clinical internship). This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Certification/License: Must be fully licensed or licensable to practice as a Psychologist in Kansas & Missouri. PSYPACT eligible.
Work Experience: Experience providing brief therapy to individuals, couples, and groups. Clinical and crisis management experience. Experience designing and implementing outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops. Experience providing clinical supervision and consultation.
Preferred Qualifications: Work Experience: Two years post-doctoral clinical experience. Two years of experience providing service to healthcare providers.
