Program Director and Clinical/Counseling Psychologist for Master’s Level Psychology Program
The Gordon College Psychology program invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track psychologist position, preferably at the associate or full professor level, commensurate with experience. This person serves as the program and clinical director. The program is located within the School of Psychology and Human Services and housed in the Ken Olsen Science Center on Gordon’s campus. We seek someone with a Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree with excellent teaching and mentoring skills who can bring appropriate clinical and research experience to contribute to the School, the College, and the discipline. The position will begin July 2026 or earlier.
The master’s level degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a new venture inspired by a desire to serve students well. It is designed to meet standards for LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) accreditation. The program will be staffed by faculty with a Christian faith commitment and asks that graduate students respect but not necessarily adhere to the Christian faith. Classes will be online synchronous and taught from a holistic, values-based, faith-sensitive perspective.
The Program Director will oversee all aspects of graduate student clinical training, including practicum and internship placements, and the integration of clinical experiences with academic coursework. In addition, the director is responsible for ensuring that the program meets state and APA accreditation standards and prepares students for professional licensure.
The Psychology program offers outstanding colleagues who are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service along with motivated students who are eager to engage with their faculty colleagues. This Program Clinical Director role involves collaboration with faculty, students, and external partners as well as the Dean of the School to develop and maintain high-quality training opportunities. The position includes the expectation that the Program Clinical Director will be in charge of applying for accreditation, supervising the program under the direction of the Dean of the School, and teaching one course yearly in the graduate program as well as the Practicum/Internship courses.
The position is a faculty position and may include some teaching of undergraduates as well as graduate students.
In addition, we seek someone who has:
- Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D.).
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in Massachusetts.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of post-licensure experience in clinical practice and supervision.
- Experience in higher education with online teaching is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with accreditation processes is a strong plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and external partners.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion in clinical training.
- Must have a Christian faith commitment.
- Must have an active research agenda in clinical/counseling psychology.
