Assistant, Associate, or full Professor: Division of Vascular Surgery/Cardiovascular Institute and Division of Abdominal Transplantation/Institute for Immunity, Transplantation and Infection

The Department of Surgery, School of Medicine at Stanford University, is seeking to fill two full-time academic positions, one in the Divisions of Vascular Surgery in conjunction with the Cardiovascular Institute, and one in the Division of Abdominal Transplantation in conjunction with the Institute for Immunity, Transplantation and Infection. These faculty positions will be at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level (based on the candidate’s qualifications) in the University Tenure Line (UTL), Non-Tenure Line (Research) (NTL-R), or the University Medical Line (UML). We are particularly interested in candidates who have a mix of scholarly activity, teaching, and, if appropriate, clinical care, based on education and experience. The primary location for these positions will be at the Center for Clinical Sciences Research (CCSR).

The Divisions of Vascular Surgery and the Cardiovascular Institute are both highly motivated to discover innovative treatments in the areas of atherosclerosis, thrombosis, angiogenesis, aneurysm disease, and other conditions of translational significance to the field of vascular biology. The existing interdisciplinary collaborations involve diverse scientists and physicians who comprise the Cardiovascular Institute, with a focus on the genetic and molecular mediators of vascular disease. The Division of Abdominal Transplantation is committed to advancing innovative research that improves the management and outcomes of solid organ transplant recipients. Areas of interest include the immunobiology of graft tolerance and rejection, xenotransplantation, ischemia and reperfusion injury, organ preservation, regenerative medicine and bioengineering of new organs, post-transplant infections and cancers.

The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.

The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-Tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant should have a record or interest in cross-disciplinary collaborative translational research, have completed postdoctoral training with a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD degree, and possess a substantial record of scholarly activity with current extramural funding or high likelihood of securing extramural funding.

Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, a brief letter outlining their interests, and the names of three references (who will NOT be contacted without prior approval) to: [FSAT Position URL]
