The new Program Director would lead a fully accredited fellowship program with three fellow positions, an Associate Program Director, and a three-person administrative team. The mission of the UW Boise Addiction Medicine Fellowship is to train a workforce that practices compassionate, patient-centered, evidenced-based addiction treatment, and increases access to substance use disorder services through patient advocacy, outreach, and participation in local, state, and national associations. Responsibilities of the new Program Director would include leadership of all aspects of the program and collaboration among various training sites including the Boise VA Medical Center, St. Luke’s Healthcare, and Raise the Bottom Addiction Treatment Clinic. The 0.2 FTE for the Program Director role is based at the Boise VA. The full-time position will be appointed to the faculty at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, without tenure due to funding (WOT). Depending on their qualifications and board certification, the successful candidate will be appointed as faculty in the Department coinciding with their primary Board Certification. Academic appointment at the University of Washington and salary for the Program Director FTE at the Boise VA Medical Center will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate and full professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that all align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

This position is paid directly by the Boise VA Medical Center and receives no UW compensation. The position will report to the Boise VA Chief of Psychiatry (Dr. Warren "Grant" Harbison) and work closely with the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director (Dr. Melissa "Moe" Hagman). Please refer to the Boise VA Medical Center for information about compensation for this position. The anticipated start date is not later than January 2026.
