"Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting"

The Accounting Department in the College of Business, Tennessee State University, invites applications for full-time tenure-track position in Accounting at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor beginning Spring 2026.

Successful candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research and teaching and must have a strong desire for pedagogical and curricular innovation. Responsibilities include research, writing grant proposals, as well as teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses, academic advising, and providing service and outreach contributions to the college, university, and to the community.

The successful candidate will be a dedicated teacher, active scholar, and effective mentor for students with diverse backgrounds, preparation, and career goals.

• Candidates must have expertise or evident potential in providing quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, conduct research resulting in high quality publications, fulfill service responsibilities, and discharge other duties normally associated with a university faculty appointment.
• Experience in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Teaching assignment may require teaching day, evening, and/or Saturday classes as needed.
• Candidates must successfully publish in the College of Business preferred listings of refereed journals.
• Faculty will participate in professional organizations and engage in course, curriculum, and program development for both the College and the Department.
• Faculty will provide academic advising for students and assist in career guidance programing, as well as participate in college, university, and community service activities.
• Expertise in contemporary research practices and topics, demonstrated excellence in teaching accounting-related topics, possess practical business experience, and the potential to make significant internal service contributions.
