"Instructor of Accounting, 1 Year -Full Time, Temporary"

Westfield State University (WSU) seeks to hire a one-year temp visiting instructor of accounting. WSU offers a MSA and BS in Accounting degree through the Department of Accounting and Finance. The program is housed within the School of Professional Studies. Westfield State University has been recognized as a College of Distinction for its Business Programs in 2023-2024.

The Accounting major is showing modest growth over the most recent five-year period. Graduates have been successful in securing career positions in the fields accounting in the region. Many WSU students include an internship as one of their major courses. Students also have the opportunity to network with industry professionals through events hosted by our Accounting and Finance Club. The faculty member hired in this position will teach courses within the BS in Accounting degree. These courses may include Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Financial Reporting, and possibly Auditing and Taxation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach courses and contribute to strengthen accounting major
• Be capable of working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary department
• Perform service to university and department through activities such as committees, campus activities, and other opportunities
• Advise students for course selection and academic/career goals

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• MSc in Accounting or MBA with a concentration in accounting
• Prior teaching experience at college level

• A commitment to undergraduate teaching
• Flexibility for future course offerings broadly related to field
• Willingness to engage with themes of race, class, gender, indigeneity, and historically-marginalized communities in their teaching, service, and/or scholarship

Salary: Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies. State job specifications may be found on the Department of Higher Education's webpage.
