"Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership, and Program Coordinator (3 Positions to be filled) - Fall 2026"

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties

The Department of Educational Leadership invites applications for full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions beginning Fall 2026. The department seeks scholars with expertise in interdisciplinary educational studies, K–12 educational leadership, or higher education leadership, who are committed to preparing leaders across educational contexts.

We particularly encourage applications from candidates with professional experience, research, and/or scholarly interests in one or more of the following areas:

Interdisciplinary Educational Studies

(e.g., leadership across educational systems, educational policy and reform, community-based education initiatives, educational equity and access, educational program development and evaluation, workforce development in education-related fields, partnerships among schools, higher education institutions, and community organizations).

K–12 Educational Leadership

(e.g., school leadership and administration, principal preparation, superintendency, district leadership, instructional leadership, school improvement, educational policy and governance, leadership for various school communities, educator workforce development, partnerships between schools and communities).

Higher Education Leadership

(e.g., higher education administration, student affairs leadership, academic leadership, college access and success, higher education policy, organizational leadership in postsecondary institutions, community college leadership, enrollment management, institutional effectiveness, student success initiatives, online and adult education leadership).

Successful candidates will contribute to teaching, scholarship, and service in programs that prepare professionals working in schools, higher education institutions, and other education-related organizations. Summer teaching opportunities may be available based on departmental needs.

Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses in the fully online Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies program and/or graduate courses in the Master's program in School Leadership (Principal Certification) and the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership with a superintendency emphasis.

Faculty responsibilities include teaching assigned courses, advising and mentoring students, and collaborating with faculty on program development, enrollment growth, and curricular initiatives. Depending on experience and departmental needs, faculty may have opportunities to serve in program leadership roles, such as coordinating the undergraduate Educational Studies program or the doctoral program in Educational Leadership.

The successful candidate will maintain an active program of scholarly research with a clearly defined line of inquiry related to educational leadership, higher education, K–12 leadership, interdisciplinary educational studies, or related areas. Expectations include publishing in peer-reviewed academic venues and presenting research at regional, national, and international conferences.

Faculty are expected to participate in service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels and to engage with professional organizations. The position also involves collaboration with external partners including schools, school districts, community colleges, higher education institutions, private educational organizations, and community agencies to support program visibility, partnerships, and student opportunities.

Additional responsibilities may include advising graduate students, serving on and eventually chairing doctoral dissertation committees, and supporting recruitment and retention initiatives for departmental programs.

General Requirements

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate one or more of the following:

• Teaching experience in higher education, K–12 schools, or other educational settings.
• Administrative or leadership experience in higher education, K–12 education, or related educational organizations, including areas such as state testing services, educational program evaluation, or similar educational enterprises.
• Experience using online teaching and learning technologies, particularly in virtual or hybrid learning environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting students through coaching, mentoring, and/or academic advising.
• Evidence of the ability to contribute to the state, regional, national, and/or international visibility of departmental programs through scholarship, professional engagement, or partnerships.
• Experience with student recruitment, outreach, and program promotion.

Educational Requirements

Earned Doctorate in educational leadership, higher education administration, community college leadership, educational research, or related education field by start date.

Experience Required

At least three years of related professional experience in K-12 instruction and/or administration, higher education leadership/college student affairs, private educational industry employment (test development, textbook sales/marketing, GED, career/workforce development, educational data analysts, human resources personnel, etc.). Demonstrated evidence of quality instruction, program development, and/or student recruitment.
