Bennett College is a historically Black liberal arts college for women in Greensboro, NC. With a 7/1 student/faculty ratio, Bennett is an intentional micro-college providing an intimate, engaging learning community that centers on the experiences and achievements of women of color. Bennett College is seeking new faculty who can contribute to developing innovative and forward-leaning programs and curricula that prepare students for impactful civic engagement and leadership roles in their personal and professional lives. General summary:

This is a full-time (9-month) non-tenure-track faculty position starting no later than August 2025, with the opportunity to move into a tenure-track position. The successful candidate will teach general psychology and courses in at least two areas: developmental psychology, community or I/O psychology, clinical or counseling psychology, physiological psychology/neuroscience, cognitive psychology, &/or research methods/statistics. Candidates should have an established portfolio of engaging, student-centered teaching and mentoring at the post-secondary level and a record of success in securing outside funding (or demonstrate the potential to do so). Ideal candidates would also have peer-reviewed publications and an active research program. MA or MS in psychology or a related field is required, and a Ph.D. or PsyD is strongly preferred.

Courses are taught in minimesters, with three minimesters per traditional semester. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.

Essential job functions:

• Teach face-to-face, remote, and hybrid psychology courses for majors and non-majors.

• Use innovative teaching methods and technologies to engage students and ensure their success.

• Use Canvas for course delivery and record-keeping; promptly submit grades and attendance reports.

• Advise psychology majors and minors with a focus on preparing them for career entry, internships, and/or graduate school.

• Perform administrative duties and record-keeping for the psychology program.

• Serve on college committees and participate in shared governance and the general administrative work of the college.

• Attend monthly faculty meetings and college events (such as Baccalaureate, Commencement, and convocations).

• Participate in recruitment, professional development workshops, and other programming as assigned by the dean of faculty or VP of academic affairs.

• Develop a research program and contribute to the published literature in the field.

• Actively pursue outside funding.

Education and experience:

Required qualifications

• A terminal degree/doctorate in psychology or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in psychology as of August 1, 2025.

• A record of effective college teaching.

• Experience teaching a culturally and ethnically diverse community.

• Experience mentoring undergraduate students.

• Experience teaching in different modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online).

Preferred qualifications

• Demonstrated record of research and scholarship within the discipline.

• Peer-reviewed publications and an active program of research.
