The College of Health Sciences – Department of Health Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU) – Columbia invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor position in the Master of Health Administration Program.
About the Department/Program
The College of Health Sciences is MU’s fastest growing academic unit, enrolling approximately 3,500 students across eight departments and 21 programs. As home to the Department of Health Sciences, the most popular major at MU, the College advances health and well-being in Missouri and beyond through outstanding research, experiential learning, and education in public health, health disparities, health policy, and health administration.
The Department includes award-winning faculty and staff in a collegial environment that values interdisciplinary scholarship and the intellectual and professional growth of its members. The CAHME-accredited Master of Health Administration Program, offered in residential and executive formats, prepares future healthcare leaders to navigate the complexities of an evolving healthcare landscape. Incoming faculty will build on this strong foundation while engaging in collaborations across departments, clinical partners, and workforce training programs within the College.
Position Overview
The Department of Health Sciences seeks to recruit a faculty member to support the Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program. Primary responsibilities include teaching in core areas such as health policy, healthcare strategy and marketing, U.S. healthcare systems, and administration of healthcare organizations, with additional contributions to advising, program development, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Beyond teaching, the position contributes to student advising, program development, and interdisciplinary collaboration that advance the strategic priorities of the Department, the College of Health Sciences, and the University of Missouri.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach graduate-level courses for residential and executive MHA cohorts.
- Contribute to curriculum design and continuous improvement to maintain CAHME accreditation and alignment with the NCHL Health Leadership Competency Model.
- Advise and mentor graduate students, supporting academic success, professional development, and career placement.
- Engage in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work and community engagement that advances MU’s land-grant mission.
Qualifications
The minimum qualifications for this position include:
- A doctorate in Health (Service) Administration, Health Management, or a related discipline
- Experience teaching graduate-level courses in health management, health policy, strategic planning, and related areas.
Candidates will be evaluated on:
- Demonstrated success in teaching, advising, and mentoring graduate students in face-to-face and hybrid settings while fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Interest in service and leadership activities, including alumni engagement at the national level to elevate the visibility of the program.
- Commitment to departmental growth, shared governance, and professional service.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 - $135,000, depending upon the rank of the position offered.
