About the Position
Northern Arizona University - Yuma Branch Campus is conducting a national search to fill a career-track (non-tenure) academic-year generalist position in Social Work at the rank of Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor. This position is expected to be continuing with potential for promotion. Renewal is contingent on performance, continued funding, and departmental needs. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the Flagstaff faculty and campus and may assume a leadership role in the development and implementation of the growing academic program in Yuma.
The primary focus of this position is teaching upper-division social work courses for the Bachelor's in Social Work program in Yuma and online. A demonstrated connectedness to the discipline of Social Work is expected. The program prepares students to provide professional service to diverse individuals, groups, and communities. This faculty member will serve as a member of the NAU School of Social Work faculty as well as the faculty of the Arts and Sciences Division on the Yuma Branch Campus. The faculty member is also expected to serve as a student mentor in his/her local area and as a resource to academic advisors and recruiters. Summer and winter teaching is available for additional compensation.
This 9 month position will start in Fall 2026 with rank (Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor) commensurate with experience and academic qualifications.
The position requires teaching, service, and professional development activities. Courses will include fieldwork, courses in the successful applicant's area of interest and courses that fit departmental needs. The faculty member is expected to serve on local campus and university committees and assist with program assessment and development. Community-engaged scholarship is welcomed. A successful annual review is dependent on sustained connectedness to the discipline, positive teaching reviews and department and campus service.
Minimum Qualifications
Assistant Clinical Professor
- An earned Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited institution
- Two years of post-MSW practice experience
- The equivalent of one year (2 semesters) of college or university level teaching (at least 6 credit hours per semester) Or a combination thereof
Associate Clinical Professor
- An earned Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited institution
- Past full-time faculty experience at the rank of associate clinical faculty (or similar second level faculty rank); OR
- 6 years of full-time teaching experience at an assistant (first level) rank and demonstrated outcomes meeting NAU SBS/SW criteria for promotion to Associate Clinical Professor
*A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.*
Preferred Qualifications
For both the Assistant and Associate Clinical Professor
- An earned Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- LCSW
- Three or more years of post-MSW practice experience
- The equivalent of two or more years (4+ semesters) of college or university teaching (at least 6 credit hours per semester)
- Demonstrated ability to teach social work courses across the curriculum
- Demonstrated ability to organize and teach fieldwork placement courses
- Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse faculty, staff and student environment
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and working with first-generation minority students
- Proficiency in elementary Spanish language
- Familiarity with CSWE accrediation process
- Demonstrated experience teaching remote courses to augment face-to-face teaching.

Compensation
Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
