Assistant Director, Employee Wellbeing
Job Description
The Assistant Director, Employee Well-Being is responsible for the strategic design, execution, and continuous improvement of well-being initiatives. This role focuses on enhancing the employee experience by addressing physical, mental, emotional health.
This position will operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing vendor relationships, analyzing organizational health data, and partnering with cross-functional leadership to embed a culture of wellness into the Boston College workforce.
Program Design:
Along with the Director, design and implement new well-being programming that supports the Boston College workforce needs. Address mental and physical health challenges in the workplace by implementing robust support systems, manager training, and psychological safety initiatives. Research emerging industry trends, public health recommendations, and peer institution frameworks to conceptualize innovative, competitive well-being initiatives. Participate in the technical and operational launch of each initiative, ensuring smooth platform registrations, live seminar facilitation, or physical health fair execution. Actively track initial enrollment, manage day-of technical troubleshooting, and supervise coordinating staff to guarantee a premium end-user experience for employees.
Operations and Vendor Management:
Own relationships with third-party wellness vendors, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), and digital health platforms. Evaluate performance, negotiate renewals, and ensure high service delivery. Manage the annual well-being budget, optimizing resource allocation to maximize program adoption and return on investment (ROI). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and compliance with relevant employment laws (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, ADA, ACA) as they relate to wellness incentives and data privacy.
Data Analytics and Insights:
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program engagement, behavioral changes, and overall business impact (e.g., reduction in burnout, retention rates). Utilize pulse surveys and focus groups to gather employee sentiment and pivot strategies based on real-time data.
Communication:
Create campaigns that drive awareness and high participation in well-being benefits. Build and manage an internal network of "Well-Being Champions" across different departments to drive grassroots engagement and localized initiatives.
Compliance - VPHR Office:
Pay and reconcile monthly reimbursable unemployment invoices. Check claim details for any that could be fraudulent or that should be contested. Track H-1B and Green Card filings and ensure department-level posting requirements are met before engaging immigration counsel. Maintain all documentation received. Ensure state and federal workplace posters received from the vendor are distributed to campus departments for posting. Respond to requests for employee files and subpoenas for documents.
Must be available to support employee wellness events that occasionally fall outside of normal working hours to include mornings, evenings, and weekends and those that are held outdoors.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $67,350 to $84,200; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
