Assistant Director, Employer Development and Engagement

As a member of the Career Services team, the Assistant Director of Employer Development & Engagement will contribute to the strategic leadership of the Center by proactively partnering and collaborating internally and externally to build the future of career education at the Colleges. The Assistant Director of Employer Development will provide leadership that cultivates and maintains relationships with employers to make full- and part-time employment, internships and career opportunities available to students, alumni and alumnae. This will include identifying and helping to cultivate relationships with parents, alumni and alumnae as employers. As part of the relationship building, the Assistant Director will educate employers about the breadth of knowledge, skills, and abilities that HWS graduates can bring to their workplace. Travel will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruitment:

  • Coordinate and host on-campus and virtual recruiters and promote students' candidacy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, alumnae and parents to solicit opportunities, grow the volunteer database through targeted outreach, and attend and present at alum events
  • Develop and maintain relationships with faculty to further meet the needs of students, including meeting annually with faculty via department meetings or individual outreach, sharing opportunities with faculty, providing opportunities for faculty to meet with employers, and devising marketing strategies and implementing outreach to campus and external communities
  • Build and maintain close relationships with representatives and recruiters for job and internship development opportunities, candidate referrals and on- and off-campus recruiting efforts
  • Develop substantial database of opportunities for students; work with career coaching staff to identify students' interests and provide relevant jobs and internships
  • Actively promote opportunities to students and maintain position listings in Handshake
  • Assist with the placement of students into job shadow and externship opportunities
  • Help to grow the alumni/ae/parent networking database
  • Provide annual reporting in terms of outcomes and opportunities developed

Career Advising:

  • Provide general career advising for students with defined career goals regarding resumes, professional correspondence, job search and networking strategies and specific employment opportunities; help support them with the use of AI/resume scanning services to enhance their materials for specific employers/industries
  • Meet with students as they apply for opportunities and connect them with appropriate contacts, including alums and employers for networking and guidance
  • Partner with the Business team in working with students interested in communications and sales, while also supporting business and management related career communities

Program Development and Promotion:

  • Develop and facilitate career-related workshops; some may be held during evening hours
  • Coordinate speakers for Communications and Sales career communities (2 per semester)
  • Publicize and promote career programs and services
  • Develop, coordinate and supervise Communications career trek
  • Assist with writing and producing office and campus publications
  • Present at Admissions events as needed and meet with individual recruits and prospective students/families
  • Represent the office at meetings, events, etc. as requested by the leadership team
  • Partner with the Melly Institute for program promotion and skill development opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30am to 5:00pm during the academic year and a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours time period. This position is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Annual salary is $63,426.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Master's degree in a relevant discipline highly preferred.

Successfully have demonstrated skills in selling, a sense of urgency to completing tasks, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

Experience with outreach, marketing and recruitment.

Knowledge and experience with employer relations and other career programs.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Ability to develop and manage projects with independence and accountability.

Experience leading training sessions, designing and delivering workshops or teaching.

Ability to execute in a pressured environment.

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication, and management/supervisory skills.

A motivated/enthusiastic work style.

Appreciation of liberal arts curriculum

Valid Driver's License and ability to travel on behalf of the Salisbury Center

Required technical knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, desktop database programs.

Preferred technical knowledge: Raiser's Edge and Handshake
