Position Summary: The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all field or clinical placements and associated program services for all graduate programs in the School of Education, School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Professional Studies. In addition, the coordinator will manage affiliation agreements and all memorandums of understanding for all university programs that need them for clinical (health care settings) placements in external agencies or schools. This position has a 10 month obligation from 8/15 to 6/15 annually. Starting salary range: $47,950 - $51,900
Major Responsibilities:
- Graduate Teacher Education Program Coordination: Canvass, secure, coordinate/assist with and confirm all external placements such as early field experiences, student teaching, internships, and clinical rotations required by graduate programs across the university. Assist Program Student Teacher Coordinator(s) with student teaching placements. Act as a liaison between the FESP Office and graduate program coordinators and field supervisors (on and off campus) in placing students. Develop, maintain and enhance relationships with all constituent groups, internal (academic faculty, Dean's offices, FESP) and external (public school administrators, clinical site coordinators). Assist and support the efforts of the FESP office in meeting the standards mandated by the external organizations for the purpose of accreditation for academic programs and the institution. Assist all graduate program coordinators with orientation and placement information meetings for teacher candidates and internship candidates, as needed. Collaborate with FESP staff to enter data and update field experiences database each semester for the purpose of tracking and reporting placement details (Log hours, student information cards, confirmation of completion by student, cancellation of placements, etc.)
- Affiliation and Memorandum of Understanding Coordination: Serve as a liaison between the FESP Office, graduate program coordinators, and host sites using affiliation agreements (AAs) for medical/health care placements, and memorandums of understanding (MOU) for teacher education programs. Communicate with each program that utilizes affiliation agreements about student placements and intended sites. Confirm there is an existing AA or MOU in place for the required location and dates of the placement. If there is a need to amend or create a new affiliation agreement or MOU, follow the appropriate steps to get an agreement in place. Review AAs for each student being placed to ensure accuracy and if needed, send to SUNY Legal for review. Review all MOUs for each district to ensure accuracy and if needed, send to SUNY Legal for review. Send AA or MOU to the host site for review. Track where all AAs are in the approval process and notify the program when the AA is complete with signatures. For clinical AAs only, follow-up to make sure Certificate of Insurance (COI) was issued. Serve as a resource for department or program questions regarding AAs. Serve as a resource for FESP Office questions regarding MOUs. Maintain a database of clinical placement sites, including expiration dates, and which departments and majors are part of the agreement.
- Functional and Supervisory Relationships: Reports to the Director of Field Experience and School Partnerships Office. Works closely with FESP Office colleagues in a team environment. Interacts frequently with students, college faculty and staff, teachers/administrators in P-12 schools, community organizations, clinical sites, and the Business Office
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of three years professional work experience
- Previous work experience with Microsoft Word
- Previous work experience with Microsoft Excel or similar assessment data tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Professional work experience in P-12 schools, higher education and/or clinical sites
- Previous experience with database/learning management systems (i.e. Banner, Brightspace, Argos, Watermark)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
- Extensive knowledge and skills using software packages (i.e.-Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and effectively collaborate with others
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet critical deadlines and multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing with varied and diverse constituent groups
