Assistant Director for Recruitment and Training

The Assistant Director for Recruitment and Training is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position reporting to the Director for Residence Life. The Assistant Director for Recruitment and Training works closely with other professionals in the administration and management of a comprehensive housing and residence life program that serves 5700+ on-campus students. This position has the responsibility for general administration oversight and management of recruitment, training and development of professional and graduate staff.
The position is responsible for:
Recruitment and Training
- Coordinate the recruitment and selection of professional staff and graduate assistants.
- Coordinate and develop ongoing training for professional and graduate staff.
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy for professional and graduate positions.
- Serve as the department liaison with the Higher Education program.
- Develop a competency-based curriculum and development plan for graduate and professional staff.
Supervision and Leadership
- Supervise, train, and evaluate 3-4 full-time, live-in, master’s level coordinators for residence Life.
- Articulate vision, mission, and goals for the area, department, and division.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and assessment of departmental goals and initiatives.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with staff.
- Provide appropriate referrals to other university departments/resources as needed.
- Oversee department committees.
- Serve on an on-call duty rotation for 5,700 residents.
Administration
- Assist in the overall direction and strategic planning of short- and long-term goals of Residence Life.
- Maintain accurate accounting of allocated funds and expenditures.
- Work cooperatively with other staff members, departments, and offices across the University to foster strong partnerships.
Other Duties
- Serve as a representative of Housing and Residence Life on various departmental, divisional, and university committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life.
