Assistant Director of Custodial and Facilities Operations
Job Summary
Provide strong leadership and management for custodial maintenance services to provide clean and sanitary conditions. Manage special project management, quality assessment, inspection management for E&G and Housing buildings, manage vendor contracts related to custodial maintenance, pest control, et al., manage supplies serving this department and respond to after hour emergencies as needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct the Custodial Maintenance department consisting of: Superintendent, Supervisors, Foreman, floor technicians, industrial cleaning technicians, equipment mechanics, custodians, associated trade contractors and inventory technicians
- Maintain safe and healthy work environments by ensuring policies and procedures are up to date and accurate
- Direct the Operation of Logistical Services team, involving departmental moves and setup of special events including convocation, graduation, educational series, alumni events, et al
- Work with Superintendent of Custodial Services to develop, implement and oversee maintenance cleaning plan for each work area to provide individually and equally proportional assignments to ensure workload balance and complete service delivery by applying cleaning rates to required frequencies and services
- Work with Superintendent of Custodial Services and Logistics Supervisor to prepare unit budget recommendations and forecast future needs based on historical data
- Regularly review existing departmental policies and develop new departmental personnel policies in line with all Georgia Southern University policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field or 10 or more years of experience, preferably in the field of Custodial maintenance and logistical services. Experience can be substituted in lieu of education.
Required Experience
Ten (10) - Fifteen (15) years management and leadership experience
Proposed Salary
$68,369 - $88,934

- Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position

- Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
- Must possess strong computer skills to include databases, spreadsheets, word processing and a CMMS system (TMA)
- Must have strong leadership and management skills in addition to wholehearted commitment to customer service
- Must be able to demonstrate management skills such as: planning, organizing, ability to delegate, train coach, lead, mentor, motivate, and ensure cohesiveness
