In collaboration with the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Marketing & Communications, develop and implement effective, integrated marketing and communications plans that advance the University. This vital team member will create an engaging and proactive communication infrastructure and mission-driven messaging that inspires and influences internal and external constituents.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the creation and execution of a regional and national media plan with the goal of publicizing Carroll University as a high-quality institution of choice for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Provide creative strategies and produce design elements for multimedia projects including print collateral (F1RST magazine, brochures, programs, postcards, direct mail pieces, posters, etc.) and web pages.
  • Serve as the editor and production manager of F1RST magazine. Interview constituents to produce articles and guide content creation for the publication.
  • Work collaboratively to create and implement initiatives to improve communication infrastructure, including crisis communication, organizational communication, management of self-serve marketing aids including Canva and Marq.
  • Serve as the team lead for the Creative Brief process providing leadership, oversight of projects, full utilization of the product, including client communication, and streamlined requests.
  • Work collaboratively with all areas of the institution to develop campus brand standards for electronic and printed media to assist campus partners to effectively communicate with our broader community, ensuring consistent branding and Carroll story telling.
  • Assist with the production of copy and creative materials for various departments and academic divisions as assigned.
  • Collaborate with team members and campus partners to strategize content creation for the website.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Marketing & Communications, assist with budget planning, implementation and monitoring for MarCom.
  • Assist with strengthening relationships with a wide variety of external constituents to aid in the planning and implementing of a sustainable community relations initiative that meaningfully engages external individuals/groups/businesses with Carroll.
  • Supervise the Senior Graphic Designer and ensure that all creative projects meet brand standards and deadlines.
  • Together with the balance of the IA Team, understand and engage in trends and effectively deal with complex issues facing institutions of higher education.
  • Manage special projects of a marketing nature as assigned.
  • Serve on University Committees as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in public relations, marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or related field required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Technology Skills:

  • High-level, exceptional experience in graphic design and imaging required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of theory and best practice in marketing and communications, including design, branding, analytics, databases, and web strategies.
  • Concise understanding and direct experience with design principles and market trends in the creation of both electronic and print media.
  • Excellent revising, editing and proofreading skills to maintain high standards of accuracy and quality under deadline pressure and with a high level of professionalism.
  • Strong interviewing skills for the creation and development of stories and articles.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and Power Point and some knowledge of HTML coding preferred.
  • Experience with Canva and Marq preferred.
  • Experience in Blackbaud programs such as Raiser's Edge and Net Community are a plus.

  • Ability to clearly articulate the mission of Carroll University.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • High energy level, self-motivated, and self-directed to design and complete complex projects.
  • Must have the ability and desire to: multi-task and meet deadlines; be a team player; work collaboratively; understand the principles and techniques relevant to enrollment at all levels, alumni engagement and fundraising.
  • Be resourceful, organized, results-oriented and utilize sound judgment in making decisions.
  • Demonstration of integrity, positive attitude and a sense of humor.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
  • An understanding of higher education.
  • This position requires occasional weekend and/or evening hours.
