ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / STUDENT-ATHLETE SERVICES

Position Summary:
Academic Coordinator for assigned teams: promotes academic success and retention of student-athletes; assists in monitoring continuing eligibility; mentors at-risk student-athletes; meets with prospective student-athletes on recruiting visits and provides coaches with relevant NCAA Eligibility Center information regarding prospective student-athletes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- One year of experience working in a college student services area.
- Commitment to academic integrity and compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations.
- Positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse educational and social backgrounds.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Strong listening skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
- Knowledge of Division I athletic programs.
- Advising and academic support programming experience in an NCAA intercollegiate environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Academic Coordinator for assigned sports.
- Provides academic support for student-athletes.
- Mentors large population of at-risk student-athletes.
- Assists with NCAA continuing eligibility certification of student-athletes for CMU, NCAA and Mid-American Conference eligibility.
- Performs program presentations for recruitment of prospective student-athletes and their parents.
- Monitors academic progress for student-athletes to ensure CMU graduation and NCAA eligibility.
- Assists with student-athlete development programming.
- Other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $40,000 - $45,000
