ANNOUNCES A COMPETITION
for the position of the M/F Assistant in the Construction Materials Engineering Department in the group of research workers

Place of work: Warsaw, Poland
Persons who meet the conditions specified in Article 43 of the Law on Research Institutes (consolidated text Journal of Laws of 2026, item 741), as well as the conditions listed below, are eligible to enter the competition.
Qualification Requirements:
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering, materials engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional work experience in a scientific or research institution/organisation.
- At least 5 years of experience in conducting microbiological testing of construction products, or testing products for the protection and repair of concrete, as well as waterproofing products.
- At least 2 years of experience in carrying out scientific research and development work.
- At least 2 years of experience in assessing the performance characteristics of construction products.
- Authorship or co-authorship of at least 2 scientific publications in highly ranked journals (>100 points acc. to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education ranking) included in the evaluation system for the civil engineering, geodesy and transport discipline, published within the last 3 years, documenting experience in conducting research within the scope of the qualification requirements specified in this advertisement.
- Experience in delivering presentations at conferences and topic-specific trainings.
- Good command of written and spoken English, enabling work in international teams and the preparation of scientific publications.
- In the case of foreign nationals, fluent written and spoken Polish is required.
- Category B driving licence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting original scientific research aimed at resolving scientific problems through research and development activities to ensure the appropriate technical and functional quality of buildings and civil engineering structures, with regard to safety in use, accessibility and durability.
- Practical application of scientific research or development work by establishing evaluation criteria for products, buildings, and technical solutions and assessment thereof; developing and implementing new testing methods and improving existing ones; and contributing to the development of draft national building regulations.
- Leading research topics and actively participating in research teams at institutional, inter-institutional and international levels.
- Disseminating scientific achievements through the publication of scientific and technical works in reputable journals, participating in the scientific community, and cooperating with domestic and international entities and organizations in the areas of scientific research, development, and standardization.
- Actively participating in the scientific community, including e.g. through presentations at scientific and technical conferences.
- Acquiring and/or managing national or international research grants and projects.
- Undertaking scientific initiatives that contribute to the society and the economy.
- Participating in the Institute's organisational activities related to the ongoing scientific research or development work, as well as teaching activities.

- A list of scientific publications with credits from the last three years, along with a description of scientific and engineering achievements.
- List of academic topics and research projects, with an indication of the roles held.
- A signed declaration stating that, should the candidate win the competition and take up the post, the Building Research Institute will be the primary place of employment for the duration of the contract in this position.
- All documents must be in Polish.
