ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF EXERCISE SCIENCE

The Division of Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Southern Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Exercise Science. The division seeks someone with a specialization in exercise physiology who can teach exercise physiology, undergraduate anatomy and physiology, motor learning, research methods, and other exercise science courses within the curriculum. This 9-month position begins in August 2026. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and credentials.

Primary responsibilities include teaching twelve credits per semester (4/4 load), advising and mentoring students academically and spiritually, maintaining an active research/professional development agenda, and serving on university committees. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with curriculum development and program assessment and collaborating with the Dean of Arts & Sciences, Admissions, and Marketing to promote Southern Wesleyan to prospective students.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Ph.D. or other terminal degree in exercise science or a closely related field with expertise in exercise physiology.
• A mature faith in Jesus Christ.
• A firm commitment to the Christian liberal arts tradition and the mission of the university.
• A robust understanding of the integration of Christian faith and learning and an ability to help students think biblically and theologically about the study of exercise science.
• Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and a dedication to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
• Evidence of a strong research agenda and/or continuing professional development.
