Job Duties:

The Department of Accountancy at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse is hiring a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2026. While all areas of accounting are welcome, we are especially interested in candidates with expertise in Auditing or Intermediate Accounting. Our students’ CPA exam pass rates consistently surpass the national average. Come join a collaborative community of teacher-scholars focused on student success.

Under general supervision of the department chair, successful candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advising students. In addition to preparing for and holding classes, teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, providing regular and substantive feedback on student work, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an active, on-going program of scholarship appropriate to their discipline. In addition, faculty provide service to the department, college, university, community and/or professional organizations. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

The College of Business Administration (CBA) at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse includes six academic departments and the Small Business Development Center. The CBA has over 3,000 students enrolled in one of the eight majors offered. It also offers seven minors and participates in the UW System’s online MBA consortium. Fully accredited by AACSB International, the CBA is recognized for high-quality faculty, staff, programs, and students, and maintains strong regional and global partnerships. A robust Assurance of Learning program regularly evaluates undergraduate and graduate outcomes, supporting accountability and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctorate in accountancy or related field. ABD will be considered with expected completion of degree by August 2026. The degree must be earned by the end of the first academic year.
• Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
• Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference may be given to an applicant with a U.S. CPA license or other relevant certification.
• Experience of teaching in higher education.
• Evidence of ability to teach undergraduate courses in intermediate accounting and or auditing.
