Assistant Professor, Computer Science
Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Rollins College invites applications for a tenure-track computer science position at the assistant level, beginning in August 2026. The area of specialization is open. Our dynamic department is looking for a colleague who is excited about teaching and mentoring at a liberal arts college. The successful applicant should be able to teach a variety of computer science courses, ranging from introductory level to advanced undergraduate, and show an interest in developing courses that serve the college's general education program.
Our alumni have obtained leading industry positions, including roles at Apple, LAIKA Studios, Cloudflare, Los Alamos National Laboratories, NASA and the Seattle Mariners. Other recent students are attending graduate programs at Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, UCF, and Virginia Tech among others. Our students are active in the community and passionate about the future of computer science.
Our new colleague will be expected to establish a record of research activity. The department encourages student-faculty collaboration and values a broad approach to scholarship, including work that enhances teaching and projects that engage with the community.

Minimum Qualifications and Education
- Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field such as computer engineering. Outstanding candidates with terminal degrees in other areas may be considered if they have a history of teaching and research work consistent with appointment as a tenure-track computer science professor. ABD candidates will be given full consideration if they plan to receive the Ph.D. prior to the start date.
- Ability or desire to teach most or all core traditional computer science courses below the 400-level.
- Ability or desire to develop and sustain a research program that can incorporate undergraduate students.
- Demonstrated or articulated commitment to teaching excellence, preferably in the liberal arts.
