Location: Syracuse, NY
Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000
Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:
The Counseling and Human Services (CHS) programs and the School of Education (SOE) at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time, 8.5-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor Position, with specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, beginning August 24, 2026.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited university program is required by the time of appointment.
- Evidence or potential of a strong scholarly agenda.
- Experience or strong potential in teaching and supervising counseling graduate students.
- Eligibility for licensure in mental health counseling in New York State.
Job Specific Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability or clear potential to secure external research funding.
- Demonstrated record or potential to teach across the CACREP masters and doctoral curricula.
- Commitment to community engagement through scholarship, teaching, and service.
- Demonstrated experience or interest in mentoring students, particularly at the doctoral level.
Responsibilities:
We seek a motivated and collaborative colleague for a tenure-track faculty position in counseling. The successful candidate will:
- Build and maintain a national scholarly reputation through publications and funding records.
- Demonstrate a record of, or strong potential for, high-quality research that advances the counseling profession and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration within SOE and across the university.
- Demonstrated ability or clear potential to secure external funding is expected.
- Contribute to high-impact teaching, supervision, and student advisement across both the CHS masters and doctoral programs and will work with a diverse student body, including students from across the globe.
- Broad teaching portfolio that includes both clinical and content-based coursework in clinical mental health counseling and counselor education more broadly.
- Provide service to CHS programs, SOE, the University, and the counseling profession.
- Demonstrate a commitment to community engagement through scholarship, teaching, and leadership and service activities.
